Functional Core Training

Functional core training refers to exercises which challenge every muscle of the body and require stability in the pelvis, spine and shoulders. This happens to be the same purpose of Pilates, Gyrotonic® and Nordic Walking! The difference is that we use free weights, stability balls, rubber cords, medicine balls, step boxes, balance boards, and a cable machine to challenge every muscle group in creative and dynamic ways.

Core training workouts may be integrated into your Pilates program or carried out exclusively. This type of training is suitable for everyone as the challenge level is set to your individual level of conditioning and goals. You will learn to master exercises which have a direct correlation in helping, you sit, stand, walk and play your favorite sport more gracefully and effectively. Thus it is called “functional” because you are learning exercises that directly improve you daily function as opposed to traditional gym exercises, which may have little relation to living your everyday life with greater ease.
